Death of Peer Gynt, an original work created by Martin Halpern.

Canadian-American lyric tenor Jean
Hébert has sung throughout North America as well as Europe and
Asia. He received critical acclaim for his portrayals of Gerald in
Lakmé at Toronto Opera and the role of Ubaldo Piangi in The
Phantom of the Opera in Toronto and Asia.
Jean recently performed Remendado in Carmen in his debut with the
Conneticut Grand Opera. He has performed with regional opera companies
across Canada in such roles as Hoffmann in Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Tonio
in La Fille de Regiment, Rodolfo in La Bohème, Nadir in Les
Pecheurs De Perles, Romeo in Romeo et Juliet, Tebaldo in I Capuletti Ed
I Montecchi, Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi, the title role in Prometheus,
and Alfredo in La Traviata. Jean has also performed Werther with
Brooklyn College.
On February 17, 18 and 19, Jean will Perform the role of Emmissary in the world premier of The Death of Peer Gynt, an original work created by Martin Halpern. Recently, Jean sang Carmina Burana with the
Greenwich Choral Society as well as with Hunter College in NYC. Other
concert engagements include Mendelssohn’s Elijah with the Finger Lakes
Symphony Orchestra, Mozart’s Requiem, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony,
Messiah, and a Radio Canada live broadcast of Rachmaninoff’s Vespers
with Choeur Chanson de Montreal. He has also performed in concerts at
the Donnell Library and the Lincoln Center Libraries in New York City.
Jean has performed several gala concerts with Toronto Operetta Theater
and North York Symphony, and the Viennese Gala Concert at The Ford
Center for the Performing Arts. During his studies, he performed
frequently with the Vancouver Opera, the Vancouver Symphony, the
Toronto Opera and the Toronto Operetta Theater.
In addition to his turn as Signor Piangi, Jean’s other musical theatre
roles include The Curate in The House of Martin Guerre with Live
Entertainment Inc., Tony in West Side Story and Lun Tha in The King and
I.
In television and film, Jean has appeared as Officer Down in the
mini-series Robocop: Prime Directives for Fireworks Entertainment and
as Pilot in the feature film Airborne for Alliance Atlantis.
Jean is Co-Founder and President of the new Union City Opera in New
Jersey.
